Selective Pallet Racking

Maximum storage flexibility and versatility

The most common method of storing pallets is Selective Pallet Racking, a storage system designed to provide ready access to every pallet.

It can be accessed by virtually any type of forklift including Counterbalance and Reach Trucks. It requires a relatively low capital investment. Selective Pallet Racking is ideal where flexibility, access and speed of operation are the main objectives of the system.

Selective Pallet Racking can also be easily adjusted or relocated.

  • 100% access to stock
  • Can be designed to handle virtually any pallet size or weight
  • Suitable for a wide range of applications

Narrow Aisle & VNA Rack

High capacity - ideally suited where high clearances are available

Narrow and Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Pallet Racking is generally serviced by Reach Trucks or specialised forklifts called Turret/Swing-Reach Trucks and in some cases, Automatic Stacker Cranes. These units operate in aisles not much wider than the load itself. Although capital costs are greater, there are usually significant savings in land and building costs.

Case picking is also possible with man-up Turret/Swing Reach Trucks, Stockpickers and AS/RS systems with appropriate attachments.  Also, NA and VNA Racking is often constructed as shelving with mesh decking to provide an excellent storage solution for Archive box storage.

  • Provides best combination of space usage & unrestricted access to stock
  • Ideal for lower throughput stock and bulk reserve storage
  • Suitable for high bay applications
  • Minimises aisle width and increases net area utilisation

Double Deep Rack

Need to store pallets two-deep for better capacity?

Where batch sizes permit a greater density of storage, Double Deep Racking offers a cost effective method of bulk storage. Pallets are stored two-deep, cutting the number of access aisles by about half in any given area.

n.b. Placing and retrieving pallets from the second slot in the racks requires a forklift fitted with a Double Deep Reach Mechanism.

  • Increases storage density compared to selective racking
  • Load weights and height limited to forklift capacity
  • Suitable for high turnover stock where restricted access is not a problem

Drive-In Rack

Need a Bulk Storage solution?

Colby Drive-In Rack may be the solution for you. Colby Drive-In Rack is industry recognised as the Biggest, Strongest and Safest drive-in rack in Australia. Colby Drive-In Rack is the leading design in Australian drive-in racks, putting safety and long-life durability first.

Colby Drive-In Rack is a popular form of high density storage. It can be serviced by a variety of forklifts including counter-balanced and reach trucks. Pallets are stored in deep lanes on uniquely designed tapered "pallet runners" that assist drivers to accurately position their load.

  • New design pallet runners carry the load with less deflection.
  • Mounting bolts are hidden underneath the runner so there is nothing for the pallet to catch on.
  • Heavy duty single sided cantilever brackets (standard) allow for the possibility of different runner levels in adjacent lanes.
  • Heavy duty pallet stops assist with load placement.
  • The popular Protect-a-RACK style upright protectors help guard against forklift damage
